Under the sweeping roofline, muscular body side flares amplify the strong road stance. Base models feature body colour fascias for an integrated appearance. Limited models include a bright fascia overlay for an upscale flavour.
Headlamps and Tail Lights
Guiding bright. Compass cuts through the night with powerful halogen lights beaming from traditional Jeep-style rounded headlamps. Standard fascia mounted round fog lamps add a sporty look while improving forward visibility in inclement weather.
Wheels and Tires
Big wheels turning. Compass offers 17- or 18-inch wheels, depending on model, riding on standard All-Season Touring tires. For extra grip, go for the clawing traction of available All-Terrain tires.
Five Doors

Five is no jive. Compass is all about convenience and easy access with four doors and a wide opening rear liftgate.

Sound/Audio/Entertainment
Premium Sound System

Loud and proud. The optional 458-watt 6-speaker Boston Acoustics® Premium Audio system plus subwoofer and a set of liftgate-mounted, articulating speakers has a total of 9 sound-drivers. When the liftgate is open, the speakers can be flipped down and projected rearward. Perfect for tailgating or camping.

UConnect

Smart call. UConnect Hands-Free Communication System* is available on Compass Limited. Using Bluetooth technology, UConnect allows wireless communication between your compatible cellular telephone and Compass's on-board receiver.

UConnect can transfer calls between your wireless telephone and the in-car system as you enter or exit the vehicle. The incoming voice is broadcast through the vehicle's radio speakers, automatically muting other audio signals on the front speakers when the hands-free system is in use.

Interior
Seats

Sitting pretty. Available YES Essentials stain and odour resistant anti-static seat fabric allows a cloth Compass interior to take anything you throw at it – literally.

The fabric, featuring antimicrobial and anti-static technology, is woven into the material. With this innovative material, you no longer need to fear an in-transit burrito.*

  • Compass Sport rear seat is a 60/40-split seatback with convenient single action folding for utility and versatility. The 60/40-split folding rear seat adds a recline feature for added occupant comfort on Compass North and Limited. This seat features a low-lock design with pull straps between the back and cushion at the outboard sides that release the reclining mechanism to recline to incremental positions for added comfort. The maximum recline angle is 12 degrees. The back panels of the seats are carpeted and they offer the same 9-degree design angle and utility when folded down as the non-reclining seat

  • Driver's side adjustable lumbar support: Standard on Compass Limited. The lumbar support is a flexible member shaped like a set of ribs. The member is bowed out by pulling its ends together using a cable. This design causes the padding in front of the ribs to bulge out for support of the seat occupant's lower back. Continuously variable adjustment provides optimum comfort

  • Front seat heaters are included with the leather-faced trim, standard on Limited
Centre Console

Flip and slide. The console lid serves as an armrest, sliding fore and aft 3.1 in. (80 mm) to provide optimum comfort for drivers of different stature. A flip pocket in the lid swings open a total of 145°, allowing a cell phone or portable MP3 player to be readily accessible.

A 115-volt outlet on the leading edge of the console base (standard on Compass North and Limited) can power small electronics such as a cell phone, MP3 player, camcorder or laptop.

Removable LED Cargo Flashlight

Search light. Compass offers an available removable/rechargeable cargo lamp/flashlight that conveniently snaps out of the headliner.

Spare Tire Storage

Spare thoughts. For convenience access, the standard compact spare tire is packaged under a removable panel in the load floor. A full size spare tire is optional on all models.

Power Sunroof

Open up. A power sunroof with vent, tilt and slide features convenient one-touch opening and closing to provide ventilation and light. Optional on Compass North and Limited.

Versatility
Fold-Flat Seats

Go flat out. On Compass North and Limited a fold-flat front passenger seat forms a table-like surface to extend the cargo area. A 60/40-split folding rear seat on all models folds to form a nearly flat load floor, extending cargo capacity.

Floor Console

This'll floor you. The floor console's sliding armrest moves forward 3 inches to accommodate shorter drivers. The armrest lid also includes a unique flip pocket for storing a phone or an MP3 player. On Compass North and Limited, the 115-volt outlet provides power to small electronics. The bin inside the console can hold up to 10 CD jewel cases or other items securely out of sight.

Cargo Capacity

Pack it in. Compass's two-box design with a liftgate provides room for up to five adults plus plenty of gear. Cargo Capacity is 643L (22.7 cu. ft) with rear seats upright, expanding to 1750L (61.8 cu. ft) with front passenger seat and rear seats folded.

Easy Wash-Out Interior

Lean and clean. Ultrafloor vinyl load floor is washable and removable for added convenience.

Perfomance
World Engine
Global power. The Chrysler Group family of four-cylinder World Engines combine dual VVT and intake manifold flow control valves with dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and high compression to produce more power, better fuel economy and smoother, quieter operation.

These advanced engines, including the 2.4L version standard on Compass, are the first among domestic North American manufacturers to use intake manifold flow control valves. Dual overhead camshafts, each with VVT, are uncommon in a moderately priced vehicle.

Other significant features include an acoustic cylinder head cover, plus dual counter-rotating balance shafts and an acoustic oil pan.
  • 2.4-litre DOHC VVT 16V I-4
  • 172 horsepower (128 kW) @ 6000 rpm
  • 165 lb-ft (224 N.m) of torque @ 4400 rpm
CVT2 (Continuously Variable Transaxle)
Easy rider. The Compass Continuously Variable Transaxle has no gears, so it doesn't shift conventionally. Instead, it employs a system of two pulleys connected by a strong steel-spined, steel segmented vee belt. The result is a smoother, quieter, more efficient driving experience.
Dual VVT (Variable Valve Timing)
Timing is everything. The 2.4L engine, standard on Compass, features dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT). By controlling the valves on both camshafts, the engine's timing is continuously tuned to deliver maximum power or optimal fuel economy depending upon the command being given by your right foot at that instant.
Four-Wheel Drive
Stand your ground. The available state-of-the-art electronic four-wheel drive system anticipates the need for added traction and responds to driver accelerator pedal pressure and/or wheel slippage by transferring power to the rear wheels. This system also contributes to vehicle stability in cornering situations by modulating power to the rear wheels. For optimal fuel economy, the system operates only on demand when on-road, thereby minimizing power robbing friction and inertia.
Ride & Handling
Nice and smooth. Compass features a four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts in the front and a multilink suspension in the rear, providing smooth on-road ride with fun-to-drive characteristics. The suspension tuning features unique shock tuning and higher front and rear spring rates to deliver more appropriate deflections during off-road driving. In addition, some suspension members are reinforced to withstand greater loads encountered in off-road conditions.

Safety
Air Bags
You're surrounded. Compass wraps you in safety with standard advanced multistage driver and front passenger air bags* and standard side curtain air bags.*
ESP
Electronic Stability Program (ESP)* is a computer-controlled system that is automatically activated to help the driver maintain control of the vehicle during extreme steering manoeuvres. The computer uses inputs from a steering wheel-angle sensor, yaw-rate sensor and a lateral-acceleration sensor and compares the input to the driver's intended course. Corrections are then made using the anti-lock brake system to help control oversteer and understeer conditions. Standard on all Jeep Compass models.
Structural Safety Cage
Tough skin. Compass body components combine to form a structural safety cage, providing enhanced occupant protection by managing and controlling impact energy. Extensive use of advanced materials with higher strength-to-weight ratios enabled the development of a body-in-white safety cage capable of meeting tougher front, side and rear impact requirements.
Anti-Lock Brakes
You're in control. Compass comes standard with four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes (ABS). Preventing wheel lock-up, ABS helps you maintain steering control during hard braking.
Off-Road ABS
Off-Road ABS is standard on all 4x4 Compass models.

Off-Road ABS provides more sustained wheel lockup than normal ABS for improved stopping performance on plowable surfaces like loose dirt, gravel, sand and mud.

More sustained wheel lock up causes the tires to drag and the loose surface to build up in front of the tires, helping to stop the vehicle. A vehicle with normal ABS requires a longer stopping distance on the same terrain because the wheels continue rotating, not allowing the drag and build up material in front of the tires.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Air without err. A location-specific tire pressure monitoring display is included in the optional Driver Convenience Group on Compass. This system alerts drivers when tires are improperly inflated, displaying actual pressure at each tire, along with a warning message for low tire pressure when a tire is 75 percent or less than recommended pressure.
Crush Zones
Absorbing news. The front structure is composed of three key crush zones. Each crush zone undergoes a sequence of events that are coordinated and optimized to maximize energy dissipation. The following key events occur in these zones during a frontal impact:
  • Axial crush of the crush can: a key link between the front rails and the bumper beam
  • Bending of the front rails at strategic locations induced through formations in the rails
  • Deformation of the front suspension crossmember to reduce intrusion and absorb energy
Child Restraint Systems
No child's play. Rear seats include two pairs of child seat anchors that use the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) systems.

A single seat can be mounted in the centre, or one in each outboard seating position. With LATCH, compatible child seats are secured by direct attachment to the vehicle seat structure, rather than by the vehicle's seat belts.
